Cornwall for Europe, the group which campaigns for Britain to be as close as possible to the EU, including rejoining, is organising a vigil for Ukraine, outside the Cathedral in Truro at 4.30 pm on Sunday 27th February.
‘We share with our European neighbours the values of peace, democracy and the freedom to work, travel and prosper across Europe. The invasion by Russia of a European neighbour threatens world peace and will disrupt economies across the continent. We grieve for the innocent lives already lost and we are fearful for the future. Putin cannot stand the idea of Ukraine becoming a full member of the European family.
This vigil is a small way in which Cornish people can stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine. We hope those attending may wear the colours of Ukraine – yellow and blue’.
