Several years ago, St Newlyn East Methodist church leaders approached the parish council because it was having trouble maintaining the Village Church. Negotiations took place and last year the parish council with the help of funds from the EU managed to buy the church for use as a community building in a deal that allowed the Methodists continued use of the building for Sunday services and other specified events. This will be, perhaps one of the last of these stories of appropriate funding before the U K leaves the EU.
