dave ball and barbara knight

2025 has brought great sadness to Cornwall for Europe.

It was with immense sadness that we learned recently of the death of two of our loyal members, Dave Ball and Barbara Knight.

Dave was a backbone member of the group having been active as a volunteer from the beginning of our campaigns, and was an indispensable part of our street stall team. Always cheerful, and enthusiastic about engaging with the public to further the rejoin cause, or taking part in a protest march, he was loved by the whole team and will be dearly missed. He faced his own sadness recently with the loss of his dear wife of many years, Tina, shortly before Christmas, but, even then, he was adamant that it would not be an end to his campaigning. Sadly for all of us, he was not to see another stall.

Barbara was a more recent recruit to our ranks, having moved to Cornwall several years ago from (we think) the Winchester area, where she was also actively involved in pro-EU activities. She did attend a few street stalls with us, although her involvement became restricted by ill health. She nevertheless improved sufficiently to join us on the last March for Rejoin in London, and even carried our “Brexit elephant” to Parliament Square. Another friend and loyal member who will be sadly missed.

Our thoughts, deepest sympathy and good wishes go to members of both families at this very difficult time.

If you knew Dave or Barbara and would like to leave a message of remembrance or condolence, please do so in the comments below!

  1. Dave and Barbara were two dear friends who were also loyal supporters of Cornwall for Europe. Dave was a lovely guy who, over many years, gave much of his free time to helping CfE with street stalls, etc., and he will be much missed by many for his companionship and enthusiasm. His cheerfulness and moral support made all the difference. The stalls won’t be the same without you, Dave!
Barbara’s was a more recent friendship and we had much in common. Sadly, she had her struggles with her health, which eventually got the better of her. A lovely lady who cared deeply about the future of the UK, and another loss to all who knew her.
