Although we had hoped to bring you the latest in our series of interviews with local party representatives, sadly this has not been possible this month.

Cornwall for Europe had attempted to contact both Dick Cole of Mebyon Kernow, and Richard Pears from the Conservatives to ask if they, or one of their party colleagues, would be prepared to talk to us at our monthly meeting on 3 May. Unfortunately, we received no response from either in time for our meeting. Since the meeting however, we have been contacted by Dick Cole who advised that Mebyon Kernow will be having an Exec meeting shortly where they will discuss the invitation and make a representative available to speak to us next month.

In the interests of impartiality, and in order to maintain CfE’s non-party political ethos, we were hoping to also provide a Tory viewpoint at some stage, but despite the fact that Richard Pears was a very enthusiastic Remainer at the time of the referendum, he has as yet failed to respond to our communications. If this changes, we will of course be pleased to provide him with the opportunity to speak to the group and voice his views on Conservative policy.
