Thank you for your letter.

My position on our relationship with Europe is quite clear and also to those who know me. I supported Ted Heath when he first got us the toe hole into the membership of what was to become as now the European union, I opposed the Brexit referendum and campaigned to stay in, as such in answer to question 2  I would be voting to rejoin the E.U .

I support being part of the European family of nations not because of what Cornwall has got in E.U funding, but what we as a Cornish nation can contribute, our Cornwall trade with Europe goes back hundreds of years, as has our investment in producing the mineral wealth that we traded. I support a stronger relationship with the E.U which would come with membership of the E.U.

Cornwall is my home, and I am all in favour in the management of our daily lives to be in dealt with here in Cornwall with out the big brother of central government or the London based political parties having a say. We have a unitary Authority which in theory means we have devolution, I am not sure how much further we can go down that road. There are certain things like Planning, Public Health, police and other blue lights services that are best managed on a national basis. I would not support a Scotland type approach to home rule, a sort of go it alone approach, we just do not have the economy to support such a move.
